"China has become an important medical equipment manufacturing base in the world." Wang Weiming, director of the First Equipment Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, China's medical equipment industry is developing rapidly, with the market size increasing from 480 billion yuan in 2015 to 840 billion yuan in 2020, with a compound annual growth rate of 11.8%. In 2020, the number of enterprises above designated size in China's medical equipment industry will reach more than 2,300, and their main business income will reach more than 410 billion yuan. In the Pearl River Delta, Yangtze River Delta and Bohai Rim region, a number of leading enterprises with strong competitiveness and distinctive industrial clusters have been formed. At present, China's medical equipment industry has formed a product system of 22 categories and more than 1,100 categories, covering all aspects of health, which can basically meet the needs of China's medical institutions, such as diagnosis and treatment, pension, chronic disease prevention and emergency rescue.

According to the Plan, by 2025, the medical equipment industrial base will be advanced, the industrial chain will be modernized, the mainstream medical equipment will be effectively supplied, the performance and quality of high-end medical equipment products will be significantly improved, and the overall support capacity for public health and medical health demand will be initially formed. The plan also sets sub-goals from five aspects: the optimization and upgrading of the whole industrial chain, the urgent need to make up for the shortcomings of basic components and components, basic software, basic materials, basic technology and industrial technology foundation of medical equipment, and initially build an innovative, high value-added, safe and reliable industrial chain and supply chain; A batch of high-end products to achieve application.

According to the plan, diagnostic and testing equipment, treatment equipment, monitoring and life support equipment, TCM diagnosis and treatment equipment, maternal and child health equipment, health care and rehabilitation equipment, and active implanted interventional equipment will be the seven key areas for development. The plan also calls for promoting the development of new models such as 5G plus medical and health care, home-based communities, and the integration of medical care and health care.
